Many modern destroyer ship has a helicopter landing deck at its rear.
AIM To study the aerodynamics and flow-fields of destroyer ship both numerical and experimental.
METHOD The study is looking into theaerodynamic characteristics of a modern destroyer ship model and assessing the turbulent flow field at the rear helicopter landing deck. The proposed study is designed to characterise the vortex shedding and turbulent flow that may influence helicopter landing. Here we conduct wind tunnel and CFD studies to simulate the flow.
RESULTS The experiment and simulation is currently still on going.
